WHAT IS A CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a community of people who purchase a portion of a farmer’s harvest before it's planted. Paying the farmer in advance provides funds needed at the beginning of the year: seed, farm supplies, labor, equipment, etc.

Jersey City Harvest (previously Downtown Harvest) is a volunteer based community group. Our mission is to promote stewardship of the Earth through our support of local, organic farming while building community relationships. 2024 will be the 20th year of bringing healthy Jersey produce and eggs to Jersey City.

In addition to providing a source of seasonal, local, organic, fresh produce and eggs to the community, we donate our extra shares to a local food pantry in Jersey City.

Our produce season runs from mid-June to mid-November. The farmer brings weekly shares to pick-up locations and members come to collect their vegetables, trade cooking tips and catch up with friends.

While we always hope for a bountiful harvest, it is important to note that members also share the unexpected risks of farming. Each growing season is unique with conditions. Our farmer provides weekly farm updates so members can learn about the current growing season.
